Hello, Dear Readers...
An Intro to the Window Seat
Greetings!
My name is Astor, and I'd like to (finally) welcome you to the Substack landing page of my website, The Window Seat.
Now, this isn't the website itself. This is more like a way to access my website through Substack. Perhaps in the future I’ll include Substack-exclusive posts on this page, but for now let’s keep it simple. ;)
Anyway, here's a quick introduction to The Window Seat!
The Window Seat is mainly a book review website for Christian kids, teens, and their parents. Though focused primarily on the fantasy genre (mostly because I have an unhealthy obsession with dragons I write fantasy).
I began The Window Seat for two reasons. The first is because friends and parents I knew were always asking me about books, suggestions, and content warnings. A few moms suggested I start a website and hook them up.
The second reason is because I want to share my obsession with dragons with the world, mwahaha as a budding writer, I knew I would need to begin building a platform before I could publish my first novel. Which, coincidentally, is all about dragons.
Now, you’re probably asking, why should I go to The Window Seat for book reviews? This lady seems a little crazy.
You are very astute.
And yes, I’m crazy. It’s incurable.
On the more serious side of things, I may be young, but I’m well-read, I’ve been taught by professional editors and authors, I’ve participated in—and placed in—writing competitions, and the career I am working towards is an author and editor for MG and YA stories. I have experience and knowledge concerning stories, and I know what the elements of a good novel are.
And if you don’t subscribe, I’ll sick all my dragons on you.
Alright, now that I’ve blackmailed you introduced you to The Window Seat, here’s how it works. Every week, I post a book review. Every month, I release a newsletter with all the posts. And at the beginning of every month, I post a chapter of my novella adaption of Hamlet, called Monarchy and Mayhem. The book review usually releases every Friday, unless I happen to forget to schedule it and the day it’s supposed to come out, we’re in the middle of nowhere at some antique car show and I’m stuck tapping the Publish button over and over and watching that annoying circle loop around and around while I sit crammed in a tiny camper wishing I’d brought more books or at least remembered to schedule that stupid book review and why won’t my phone load already.
Whew. I’m done.
Anyways.
The other part of The Window Seat is my author website, hence the releasing of the novella every month. I post updates on my writing, experiences as a writer, and talk about my novel-in-progress, Sons of Starborn.
I’m going to rabbit trail. Bear with me. (I promise it’s not like the camper rabbit trail.)
Sons of Starborn is very dear to my heart, and for the past couple years I’ve been working towards publishing it. It’s about twin dragon princes Theoden and Thoren, who must compete to earn the throne. As a war rages and their loved ones fall, the brothers must each make a choice, a choice that will either tear the kingdoms—and the brothers—apart or bind them together.
And it has dragons drinking tea. So.
If you’d like to learn more about Sons of Starborn, you can read about it here. (And please do, you’ll get a glimpse of some extraordinary artwork by a budding teen artist, The Fanciful Fox!)
All to say, thank you for coming and taking the time to read this. Please consider subscribing to my website, The Window Seat and have a magical day!

Obsessed with dragons?! For some reason I had this idea that you were actually a dragon . . . now where did that come from . . . 🤣🦗
